Milan Uhde (1936)
Born 1936. Author of collections of poetry, short stories, dramatic texts, essays and criticism. From 1990 to 1998 member of Czech government (Minister for Culture, lately chairmen of Czech parlament). In this time free writer.
JAN TREFULKA
Born 15. 5. 1929 in Brno, writer, critic. He has studied estecit and literary sience on Charles’ University in Prag. He had to stop his study because of political reasons. Than he has changed many jobs (inclusive manual). His literary work has intelectual character. Trefulka’s text are supposed to be prozaic opposite to poetry by great Moravian poets Jan Skácel and Oldřich Mikulášek.
JIŘÍ STRÁNSKÝ
Jiří Stránský, born 12. 8. 1931 in Prague, writer and translator. In years 1953-60 he was inprisoned because of political reasons. Than he works manualy, mostly as work-man. 1974-76 he was imprisoned again.
His literary work is mostly autobiographical, he writes about communistic jails in fifties. He translates from English.

LESZEK ENGELKING
Leszek ENGELKING (born 2. 02. 1955 in Bytom, Upper Silesia, Poland) - Polish poet, short-story writer, critic, essayist, scholar, and translator. Married Maja Chadryś (28th December 1994). Member of Stowarzyszenie Pisarzy Polskich (Association of Polish Writers, from 1989), Polish Pen Club (from 2000) and of the Societé Europeénne de Culture (from 1994). Honors: The Prize of Literatura na Świecie for translation (1989) The Prize of Polish Association of Translators and Interpreters for the best translation of a book of essays in 1999 (2000). Engelking's poems, short stories, essays, papers, reviews, and translations from English, Russian, Czech, Slovak, Ukrainian, and Spanish appeared in various anthologies as well as in many Polish, American, Canadian, Czech, and Slovak periodicals. Translations of his poems were published in English, Belorussian, Czech, Lithuanian, Russian, Slovak, and Ukrainian, translations of his short stories appeared in Czech. Translations of his works into Spanish and Portuguese should appear soon. He collaborates with the Polish Radio. He lives in Brwinów

MARIÁN HATALA
His debut was collection of poetry „Moje udalosti“ (1990)[my events] in publishing house PmD in Munik, Then he has published another three collections of poetry: „Zátišie s nočnými víkrikmi“ (1993), „Všetky moje smútky a iné výtržnosti“ (1996), „Básnická zbierka Marián Hatala s podtitulom 41 básní“ (1999). Marian Hatala is also publisher and translator, in years 1995–1997 organizer of three Czech-Slovak meetings of poets.
In this time he works as chief-redactor of Czech-Slovak magazin „Mosty“ weekly.
VASIĽ DACEJ
Born 1936. Writer. Author of romans, collections of short stories and more then twenty dramas. In this time he works as director of Slovak Writers’ Association.

István Turczi
ÉVA TÓTH
Born in Debrecen, Hungary, in 1939. Received a master’s degree in Hungaryan and French languages and literatures in 1962, in Spanish in 1968. She has worked as a teacher and a journalist. From 1971 to 1984 she worked for Corvina Press, Budapest, lately as editor-in-chief. Between 1984 and 1990 she worked at Új Tükör, a cultural weekly, of the column on world literature. Between 1990 and 1992 she was the foreig secretary of the Hungarian Writers’ Association, Since 1994 she has been a vice-president of the Hungarian P. E. N. Club, since 1995 a board member of the Jungarian Writers’ Association. Since 1959 she has published poems, essays and criticicm in Hungarian and foreign literary journals and anthologies. She has published several anthologies of Hungarian literature in foreign languages and has translated Spanish, Latin-American and African authors into Hungarian. Awards: Salvatore Quasimodo Prize 1996, Arany János Award 1997, Czokonai Prize 2001, József Attila Prize 2002.
